Advantages of Propane Diaphragm Compressors
Absolutely Oil-Free and Ultra-High Gas Purity
The diaphragm completely isolates the hydraulic oil from the compressed gas, ensuring 100% oil-free contamination of the propane medium during the compression process. This is critical for applications such as polymer-grade propane, food-grade propane, or specialty gas filling, safeguarding product quality and safety in downstream processes.
Zero Leakage and Intrinsic Safety via Static Sealing
The entire gas compression chamber adopts a static sealing structure, fundamentally eliminating process leakage. Combined with a three-layer diaphragm safety design and a rupture alarm system, it provides the highest level of intrinsically safe protection for compressing flammable and explosive propane, making it especially suitable for installation in safety-sensitive areas or for handling valuable gases.
Key Design Points for Propane Diaphragm Compressors
01
Diaphragm & Material
To address the swelling effect of hydrocarbon gases like propane on certain rubber or polymer materials, metal diaphragms and sealing materials with excellent compatibility must be selected. Flow-wetted components such as the cylinder head and gas valves should also be preferentially made of 316L stainless steel to meet both corrosion resistance and swelling resistance requirements.
02
Thermal & Anti-Liquefaction
Based on propane's near-ambient critical temperature characteristics, accurate thermodynamic calculations must be performed to design efficient diaphragm chamber cooling channels. The control system must integrate high-high discharge temperature alarms and interlock shutdown functions to ensure the operating temperature always remains above the dew point temperature at the operating pressure.
03
Safety & Purging System
The compressor body shall be integrated with combustible gas detector connection ports. Safety valves must be provided, with a relief capacity greater than the maximum compressor discharge capacity, and the discharge port shall be routed to a flare or a safe area. In addition, nitrogen purging interfaces shall be reserved for thoroughly displacing air from the piping.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why is a diaphragm compressor preferred for propane gas?
Diaphragm compressors ensure absolute isolation between the hydraulic oil and the compressed gas. This guarantees 100% oil-free compression, which is crucial for protecting the purity of polymer-grade, food-grade, or specialty propane.
How does static sealing prevent propane leakage?
Unlike dynamic seals, a static sealing structure completely encloses the gas compression chamber. Combined with a three-layer diaphragm design and a rupture alarm system, it eliminates process gas leaks and ensures safe operations.
Why is material compatibility critical for propane compressors?
Propane and other hydrocarbons can cause swelling in standard polymer or rubber seals. Using highly compatible metal diaphragms and 316L stainless steel components prevents material degradation and leakage.
How do these compressors prevent propane liquefaction?
The systems utilize precise thermodynamic design and integrated temperature monitoring to ensure the operating temperature remains safely above the propane dew point at discharge pressures, strictly preventing liquid formation.
What built-in safety features do you provide for flammable gases?
Our compressors feature integrated combustible gas detector connections, safety valves sized to exceed maximum discharge capacity, and nitrogen purging systems to safely displace air before startup.
